Some of the most exciting discoveries in wine happen when a bottle dramatically exceeds expectations.
For this recurring Winers tradition, the challenge is simple: find the best-quality wine for the lowest price. Bring a bottle that overdelivers for what it costs. The goal is not prestige or rarity but value, a wine that drinks far above its price point.
Whether it comes from an overlooked region, an underappreciated grape, or a producer flying under the radar, this evening is about uncovering hidden gems that make everyone ask the same question: how is this wine so good for the price?
During the tasting, we will guess the price and rate the quality of each wine. The person who brings the best quality-to-price ratio will take home a prize.
We will have scorecards to keep track, so please arrive as close to the start time as possible to participate fully. Let’s put our wine-guessing skills to the test and see who can uncover the best bargain of the night.
Things to bring:
A bottle of wine to share (matching the theme of the evening)
A wine glass
A small snack or dish for the group
A jacket and/or blanket for cooler evenings
Feel free to bring a new friend or neighbor
What we provide:
Wine equipment (openers, Coravin, decanters, aerators, etc.)
A selection of snacks
Water (sparkling and still)
Propane heaters
The occasional bonus bottle
Please try to arrive as close as possible to the posted start time so everyone has the chance to taste all of the wines.
