Just in time for Halloween, we are bringing back a Winers favorite.
For this repeat event, we explore wines that might feel a little intimidating at first. Bring a bottle that is unusual, misunderstood, or just a little scary. This could mean a grape variety you have never tried before, a region you know little about, an unconventional style, or a wine that challenges expectations.
Maybe it is a funky natural wine, a deeply tannic red, an oxidative white, or something with a reputation that precedes it.
The goal of the evening is simple: lean into the unknown and discover that sometimes the wines that seem the most intimidating turn out to be the most interesting.
Things to bring:
A bottle of wine to share (matching the theme of the evening)
A wine glass
A small snack or dish for the group
A jacket and/or blanket for cooler evenings
Feel free to bring a new friend or neighbor
What we provide:
Wine equipment (openers, Coravin, decanters, aerators, etc.)
A selection of snacks
Water (sparkling and still)
Propane heaters
The occasional bonus bottle
Please try to arrive as close as possible to the posted start time so everyone has the chance to taste all of the wines.
As always, if you would like to host this or a future event, just let us know and we can happily rotate the location.
